Pierson Dental Associates participates with major insurance providers and files claims for our clients electronically as a courtesy. Dental insurance helps many people to afford dental care that they might not otherwise receive, but it is not perfect. Some important insurance facts to remember include:

• Many patients have the impression that their insurance plan will pay 100% of their dental fees. This may be true for some plans and some procedures, but our experience has been that most insurance plans pay about 40% to 50% on average.
• Your insurance plan coverage is based upon what your employer paid for the plan. The less paid for the plan, the less covered by the plan.
• In 1960 the average dental insurance paid out an average of $1000 of benefits per year. Fifty years later, the average insurance pays about $1500 per year.
• Our staff will help you consider your options and understand your benefits.
• Some cosmetic procedures and comfort measures will not be covered by your insurance.
• Payment responsibility ultimately belongs to the patient. Before agreeing to any dental procedure, we recommend that you read your dental insurance paperwork carefully, and ask your benefits coordinator for clarification if necessary. If the insurance company fails to pay for all of your treatment, you will be responsible for paying the difference.
